OAK BAY
The exclusive residential area of Oak Bay east of Victoria has a Yacht club.
Its wharf is home to harbor seals who are adept at begging.

Saanich Peninsula
In Saanich (north of Victoria), just outside Butchart Gardens, there is a Butterfly Garden. This private enterprise
imports larvae, raises butterflies and displays them and other flora and fauna in a beautiful greenhouse.
Linda loved the butterflies and Bruce enjoyed photographing the orchids there.

CHEMAINUS - town of murals
Linda, being a muralist, was enthralled with this small town about half way between Victoria and Nanaimo.
These murals are just some of the 30 or
so which dot downtown Chemainus.
Checking them out and the heritage of the town is worth an afternoon.

DUNCAN - town of totems
Another logging town on the island is Duncan. There is a large collection of totem poles near the railroad station. The station houses a museum and is the
starting point for a totem pole tour.
Scheduled passenger train service continues.
