Friday morning's dives began with two on the Heian Maru.
Prior to the war, she was a luxury liner. She is a ship of immense proportions (over 500 feet long, about 60 feet wide 11,620 tons). During the war, she worked as a submarine tender. Now she
lies on her port side in about 100 feet of water.
Excitement on this dive includes many periscopes waiting for installation, a hold full of torpedoes and waiting torpedo heads. The innards are relatively accessible and a guide will show the
neophyte wreck diver the engine room.
