While we were eating breakfast on Monday, Captain Paul was moving the Truk Aggressor II to our first dive site, the Kiyozumi Maru. The Kiyozumi Maru
was an auxiliary cruiser of 8,613 tons which was sunk at the repair anchorage between Moen and Fefan Islands, where it was being repaired after taking a US torpedo in January.
She lies on her port side in 100 feet of water. A collection of the aritfacts of war is on her starboard side. We dove twice on her, totaling about 1-1/2 hours.

Relics of war are everywhere.

Here Linda checks out gas masks and other remnants of a more violent time in the quiet of the lagoon.

The bridge and remnants of control systems are always interesting.

Here a mast reaches for the sun as wire coral extends from the wreck.

In this photo of the superstructure, you can see the silhouette of the Truk Aggressor II about 60 feet above. The water of the lagoon is "nutrient rich" which means low visibility for tropical waters. We saw visibilities from 40 to 80 feet with most about 65.

The Kiyozumi Maru was under repair at the time of her sinking. It appears that some of her armament had been removed. Receiving many hits, she went down quickly but is relatively intact. She was virtually unloaded, but bicycles hanging in one hold make a surprising find.
